From The

Inside Out

Phillippians 1: 12-13

Pastor Dan Wilkerson

What do I have to find within me?

1.  I must find within me the spiritual purpose for what is happening to me (vs. 12-13).

2.  I must develop a personal conviction that tough times make me spiritually stronger (1 Peter 1:6-7).

A.  1 Peter 1:6-7 – Troubles build my faith.

B.  James 1:2-4 – Troubles are a way to grow spiritually.

C.  (Paul) Romans 5: 3-5 – Troubles build hope in God.

3.  I must determine within me that the present and future will govern my life and not the past (vs. 13-14).

4.  I must determine to say “No” even before I find myself in the situation of having to say “No” arrives (1 Corinthians 6:12).

words of encouragement

Choices are a part of everyday life; some are large, significant choices — such as the choice of a mate, while others are seemingly small — such as what to eat for lunch! yet every choice has consequences. My sermon, “Lessons learned from unlikely teachers,” seeks to deal with the subject from the experience of two unlikely teachers — the two men crucified withy Jesus. They made key chioces that day, with eternal consequences. That is my point: each person must make that same decision, to move closer to Jesus or away from Him.

Faithful

1 Thessalonians 5:24

Pastor Dan

What some have said about God’s faithfulness:

Moses:

“The faithful God, who keeps His covenants of love to a thousand generations” – Deuteronomy 7:9

Joshua:

“… not one of the words of all the good words God spoke concerning you  has failed.” – Joshua 23:14

David:

God’s faithfulness reaches to the skies. – Psalm 89

#1:  You may think you are looking for God, but the truth is that God is looking for you (vs. 24a.).

John 6:44

#2:  God is not just occasionally faithful; it is part of the character of God (vs. 24b).

Revelation 3:20

#3:  Because God is faithful, things that have not yet happened, will happen (vs. 24c).

Nothing but

the Truth

1 John 4:1-6

Pastor John

Matthew 2:24 – For false Christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

#1:  Does the Teaching CELEBRATE CHRIST? (vs. 2-3)

#2:  Does the Teaching CONFRONT the WORLD? (vs. 4-5)

#3:  Does the Teaching CONFORM to the BIBLE? (vs. 6)

This sermon’s outline was taken from the June 21, 2009 Lifeway Sunday School Lesson entitled: “Grounded in Truth.”
