First Baptist Church of Malabar was started in 1968 as a mission of Central Baptist Church in Melbourne. Prior to its official beginnings, however, a community Sunday school class was held for the children of Malabar.
Rev. Joe Huffman, who had conducted a revival in Malabar, was called as the church’s first pastor. He was the driving force during the 1970s as property was purchased and the first buildings were constructed.
Pastor Daniel Wilkerson was called to the church as Senior Pastor in March of 1983.
